IPONZ is pleased to support Nuances of Madrid Designations in Australia and New Zealand, a virtual presentation to be held by the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ). This presentation will be in two parts:
- Part One: Thursday, 3 August 2023, from 3:00 to 4:00pm NZT
- Part Two: Thursday, 10 August 2023, from 3:00 to 4:00pm NZT
The speakers for this event are Trish Scott (Principal Trade Mark Examiner, IPONZ) and Trudi Lynch (IRDA Subject Matter Expert, Trade Mark Examination, IP Australia). This presentation will be chaired by Aparna Watal (Special Counsel, Baker McKenzie, Sydney).
The presentation will delve into IPONZ and IP Australia’s treatment and practices regarding Madrid Designations. It aims to provide an understanding of how the processing and examination of Madrid Designations differs from national applications.
This presentation will also discuss common traps when responding to provisional refusals issued on Madrid Designations. Some discussion is also expected on outgoing international registrations that are based on national trade mark applications.
