Commerce Commission intervenes to recoup money for New Zealand trade mark owners

The Commerce Commission has announced that it has reached an interim agreement with TM Publisher, an overseas company responsible for sending invoices for unsolicited services to a number of New Zealand trade mark owners.

Under the interim agreement, TM Publisher has agreed that any businesses or individuals who have paid the invoice from 6 April 2016 will be refunded directly by ANZ Bank. The Commission is still in negotiations with the company over any payments received before 6 April 2016.

Businesses that have paid the invoice – particularly before 6 April 2016 – are encouraged to contact the Commerce Commission via 0800 943 600, or through their online form.
