A geographical indications regime for wines and spirits is a step closer after the Geographical Indications (Wines and Spirits) Amendment Bill passed its third reading yesterday.
The legislation amends the Act to create a new register for geographical indications which IPONZ will administer. The new regime is expected to be in place by early next year.
Details on the proposed fees and registration processes can be found in the consultation documents on the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment website.
